AMAZING RACE: SAGA!

From Charlene:

So first things first: for the people who don’t know me or are not familiar with me, my name is Charlene. I am from Vancouver, Canada. There are basically two things you need to know about me:

1) I love to be social, but my old-lady-habit (A.K.A. can’t party all night cuz’ I need my sleep) is also well-known by the Gaijin Ghetto ALTs!

2) I might look quiet, but I can be quite noisy/chatty once you get to know me! Questions?

Now getting down to business:

1) For the coming year, if you have any suggestion of what kind of social events we should have, please let me know!

2) I am planning to do an “ Amazing Race Saga” maybe around May (when it’s nice and warm and before the raining season). However, I need some help! I need maybe 3-4 volunteers who won’t be able to participate in the race (Duh~ obviously). Let me know if you are interested!! お願いします!

For the people who don’t know what “Amazing Race” is, here’s little description for ya~

The Amazing Race is a reality television game show in which teams race around the world in competition with other teams. Contestants strive to arrive first at the end of each leg of the race to avoid the possibility of elimination. Teams are progressively eliminated until three teams are left; at that point, the team which arrives first in the final leg is awarded a large cash grand prize.

Contestants travel to and within multiple countries in a variety of transportation modes, including planes, taxis, rental cars, trains and boats. The clues in each leg point the teams to the next destination or direct them to perform a task, either together or by a single member. Each task showcases the geographic region or indigenous culture and customs it is held in. If a team is in last place at the end of a leg of the race, they may be forced to stop competing or have a significant disadvantage in the following leg.

Well, we won’t be traveling around the world; it will just be around Saga Ken. The race will just have one final stop instead of having many legs. Probably will take a whole day! And I haven’t work out the prize yet! Any suggestion?

I would also like to use this chance to give a round of applause to Katieちゃん for all her hard work last year!

Peace ^^y

Charlie

About AJET

The Association of Japan Exchange and Teaching (AJET) is an independent, self-supporting volunteer organization that promotes and supports exchange and teaching in Japan in cooperation with the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. We promote peer support and fellowship, sponsor special projects, assist in the organization of conferences and carry on other activities which further this purpose.

In Saga, AJET has and continues to help organize various cultural opportunities for the JET participants, as well as keep the JET community informed about various events going on around our area. Some of the annual events organized by Saga AJET are the Kuma Kawa rafting trip and the sumo wrestling outing in Fukuoka City. We have also had the opportunity to participate in the National AJET Games, the Kyushu Charity Hitch Hike and the Saga Charity Christmas Party. In the future, we hope to add to the list of annual AJET events in Saga.

For current information on upcoming AJET events, please periodically check the “Announcements” forum on the SagaJET message board.
